MEETING WITH A LISTENING EXPERT

I met a gentleman today. He introduced himself as a expert who gives training in the `Art of  `Listen'. I found this meeting as providential as I am also exploring the same. I told him I was  interested to know in depth about it. He said that the curse of the modern era was that people did not have time to listen to others. He blamed the parents for not listening to their children. He said that the parents did not have time to listen to their children. On the contrary, they bombard their children with pieces of advice. They also try to `enlighten' their children with the hardships they under go in the process of growing them up. But, instead , if the parents find time to listen    to  their children and their problems, to share their burdens, solve their problems and clarify the children , in turn get their doubts clarified, feel satisfied and naturally they would improve their personality and most importantly, love their parents.

I loved Most of his points on the importance of listening. But as he did not stop talking I found that the listening expert never lend ear  to what I wanted to say but carried on his talk on listening, non stop!!

I LEARN THE ART OF POSITIVE SPEAKING

I LEARN THE ART OF POSITIVE SPEAKING
Let me examine my topics of small talk. Any sort of conversation, after all, revolve around three themes
1.  Things
2. Persons
3. Events
What range, beyond the said topics, do we, poor human beings have with regards to conversation? Even as being restricted to this   poor narrow range of topics what sort do I deal regularly with?   Crimes?  Violence? ..
How do I evaluate things? Do negative criticisms help me in any way?  Mostly not.  Why ,then, I get involve myself and others  in such  negative sort of conversations and lay our  time waste!
I dare to ask it loud to myself
·         Why don’t I discuss only the positive aspects of the daily happenings?-I mean, the good news.
·         I can’t help reading negative news items but every bad situation and news has something positive in it. Even a stopped clock shows correct time twice a day! Why, then, my eyes revolve around negative aspects of life? Why don’t I think positive; speak positive things that hearten the hearts of the listeners?
summary
If  simon can’t say something  good about someone or something  that either keeps  on or brings all smiles back on the face of his listeners  Simon’d better keep his  mouth shut!
